Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

California's veterans treatment courts rest on Penal Code section 1170.9 and military diversion on section 1001.80; see the California entry. In Kings County the Probation Department's Collaborative Justice Treatment Court page lists three courts, "Veterans Court, Drug Court, Co-Occurring Court", and a team of Judge Jennifer Giuliani, Probation, the District Attorney's Office, the defence, Behavioral Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs and Kings View Counseling Services. How it works. The court "strives to reduce recidivism of mentally ill and substance use disordered individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system". It "is a voluntary program that includes regular court appearances before a designated CJTC Judge. Treatment includes weekly individual and group counseling, drug and alcohol testing, if applicable, and regular attendance at self-help meetings". What is not published. The page names no eligibility rules for the veterans track or a coordinator; a defendant should ask defence counsel or Adult Court Services in Probation.
