Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The King County Veterans Program is the county's veterans' assistance programme under chapter 73.08 RCW, which every Washington county must run; see the Washington entry. It is paid for by that levy and by the voter-approved Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy. Who. "A veteran (served at least one day in the military, any discharge type), servicemember, or respective family member living in King County." That is wider than the State definition in RCW 73.08.005, which a county may widen, and it reaches a veteran with a bad-paper discharge. Some services depend on income. Bring ID, proof of service (a DD-214, NGB-22, VA letter or several other documents the programme lists; its staff can help verify service) and proof of income. What. During business hours: emergency food, medical expenses, clothing, transportation, hygiene items, utilities, shelter and household goods; help getting ID, birth certificates and military records; rent, mortgage, moorage or storage costs and move-in costs; employment plans, training certificates and job fairs; financial coaching and help applying for VA and other benefits; on-site civil legal and eviction-prevention help; help with burial expenses; reading glasses, emergent dental costs and medical devices insurance does not cover; and shelter beds for homeless veterans who agree to case management. The Veterans Reentry Program works with veterans leaving jail or prison ([email protected]), and the Collaborative Case Management Program pairs a HUD-VASH voucher with county case management. Where. 9725 3rd Avenue NE, Suite 300, Seattle 98115, and 645 Andover Park West, Suite 100, Tukwila 98188; 206-263-8387. New clients walk in weekdays 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Both offices close on the first Thursday of each month and on the morning of the fourth Thursday.
