Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Kern County Parks sells a Disabled Veterans and Former POWs Lifetime Camping Pass for $10. The pass entitles the holder to a first-come, first-served campsite free of charge at county campgrounds; the Kern River Campground and Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Area fee schedules both list it. Proof. A veteran's ID card or a letter from a local or federal VA office showing "Service Connected" status, with a second matching ID. No minimum rating is named, so any service-connected rating qualifies. Set up the pass with the Parks Administration office, a camp host or park staff before taking a site. Reservations. A veteran who wants to reserve a campsite at the veterans' rate at Buena Vista must call Parks Administration at 661-868-7000 or the Buena Vista gate at 661-868-7025; the discount cannot be booked online. Seniors 62 and over and disabled residents get $2 off a campsite instead.
