Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The clerk's own schedule. The County Clerk's Fee Schedule PDF (effective January 1, 2024, an image scan read as an image) prices the recording block: "Official Records: Deeds, Deeds of Trust, Mechanics Liens, Abstracts of Judgment, etc." at $25.00 for the first page and $4.00 each additional; state and federal tax liens; subdivision plats; assumed names; livestock marks and brands; and - "Military Discharge Recording & Copies: No Charge, N/C". Copies elsewhere on the schedule are $1.00 a page plain and certified ($5.00 certification page), so the veteran's discharge copies are the exception, free. The State rule carries the fee bar: Local Government Code 191.0017 requires each county clerk to record a veteran's discharge certificate or DD-214, and 192.002 bars a fee for recording it or for a plain or certified copy (see the Texas entry). A veteran records with the Kendall County Clerk at the courthouse, 201 East San Antonio Street, Boerne; the office also takes e-recording through CSC and ePN for land instruments. The clerk's records search is through the county's official-records index.
