Jones County Veterans Services: No County Officer and No Local Listing

Jones County keeps no county veterans service officer: its site, courthouse phone list and 2027 budget name none, and TexVet's statewide list has no Jones County row; the county links the Texas Veterans Portal, and veterans should ask the Texas Veterans Commission (see the Texas entry) where its nearest counselor sees them.

Also called: VSO, CVSO, Veterans Service Officer, Texas Veterans Commission, Texas Veterans Portal, Veteran's Information Link, 434.032, Anson, Stamford, Hamlin, Hawley, Lueders, Abilene.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, child, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

No county officer. Jones County's site has no veterans page; its home page's "Veteran's Information Link" goes to the State's Texas Veterans Portal. The courthouse phone list names no veterans office, the 2027 budget's General Fund has no veterans department (its departments run from the County Judge to the Sheriff, Indigent Health Care and Extension), and none of the year's minutes or agendas mentions veterans. TexVet's county list, which names an officer or a Texas Veterans Commission office for nearly every county, has no row for Jones. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry). Where to go. The Texas Veterans Commission's claims counselors help any veteran free (see the Texas entry); its county directory is not open to automated reading, so call the Commission or the County Judge's office (325-823-3741) to learn where Jones County veterans are seen.
