Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The fund is the State's mechanism; see the Washington entry on the veterans' assistance levy under RCW 73.08. What the county's own records add for the year read: - February 9, 2026: the Board's consent agenda carried "RESOLUTION NO. 06-0209-26R re: Closing the Veteran's Relief Bank Account", adopted unanimously with the rest of the consent items. The resolution closes the fund's separate bank account - an account consolidation, not an end to the assistance: the Veteran Services page and its application route continued unchanged through the year, and the September appropriations fund the same relief. - September 8, 2026: the Board's public hearing on the 2026 additional budget appropriations ended with Commissioner Dudley-Nollette moving approval of "RESOLUTION NO. 46-0908-26R re: Approving 2026 additional budget appropriations for various County departments", seconded by Commissioner Eisenhour and carried. The County Administrator (Josh Peters) and Finance Director (Judy Shepherd) presented the packages, and the minutes record that "Additional appropriations addressed increased demand in the Veterans Relief Fund, rising unemployment claims and post-employment benefit payouts, and payroll audit adjustments." - April 27, 2026: the Board discussed a legislative bill's provisions "related to Veteran services and mental health/developmental disability funding, which could significantly increase available revenue if separated from the general levy", and "noted the importance of further analysis before pursuing such changes", with staff to continue evaluating. The fund's dollar totals sit in the county budget's adopted and appropriated lines; the minutes and agendas record the mechanism, and no veteran benefit was adopted, narrowed or repealed.
