The grants. A notice linked from the county's home page as "TEXAS VETERANS GRANTS" (dated February 2026) reads: "Jeff Davis County was awarded the following grants from the Texas Veterans Commission: General Assistance Program - Financial Assistance; Housing for Texas Heros Program - Weatherization and efficacy improvements." It gives no amounts, grant period, eligibility rules or how to apply. The Commission's grant pages answer a bot check, so the awards were not read there. Who runs them. The Commissioners' Court's August 11, 2026 agenda carries "Discuss and take desired action to approve to move Texas Veteran's Commission (Housing for Heroes) moved under Commissioners' Court and out of the Judge's Office"; the county posts no minutes, so the outcome is unread. The budgets read show no separate grant fund. How to ask. Call the County Judge's office, 432-426-3968, 100 Court Avenue, Fort Davis, to learn whether the grants are open, who qualifies and what they pay. The Texas Veterans Commission's grants are generally for veterans and families in need (see the Texas entry).
