Military Appreciation Wednesdays. Since 2013, every Wednesday from Memorial Day week through Veterans Day, Jackson County Parks + Rec gives anyone who is serving or has served free admission to the Missouri Town Living History Museum, Fort Osage National Historic Site, and the Longview Lake and Blue Springs Lake beaches (the beaches through August 14). At Fred Arbanas Golf Course, green fees on the Par 3 Executive Course are free and the 18-hole Championship Course is $25 with cart; the County's June 2024 announcement limited the $25 round to 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., while the Parks + Rec page now says all day. Bring a military ID card, a veteran ID card or other appropriate identification. Camping. The park fee schedule in Chapter 50 of the County Code gives a veteran $2 off per night on a campsite. The reservation must be in the veteran's name for the site the veteran will occupy, proof is required, and it cannot be combined with another discount such as the identical senior discount. The schedule the County posts is the 2024 one.
