Hutchinson County Veterans Services: a Line at the Borger Annex, No County Officer on the Budget

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

What the county posts. Hutchinson County has no veterans page. Its Contact Us page lists, under the Hutchinson County Borger Annex at 1400 Veta, Borger, TX 79007, "Veteran's Services, Phone: (806) 273-0113" (the same number the page gives for the Precinct 2 Constable), with no name or hours. Who answers. TexVet's county list names Tonya Yankee for Hutchinson County at 806-273-0148, a Borger Annex exchange, with the e-mail address [email protected]. That address belongs to the Texas Veterans Commission, which suggests a Commission counselor who sees veterans at the annex rather than a county employee. The Commission's own county directory is not open to automated reading, so call to confirm who is there and when. Either way the help with VA and State claims is free (see the Texas entry). How the county funds it. The FY2027 budget adopted September 14, 2026 (the county's year runs October to September) has no veterans service department in the General Fund; the only "Veterans Service" heading (department 405) is in the General Fixed Assets fund, with no money in any year from 2022-2023 through 2026-2027. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry).
