Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The county's page ("Indiana Veteran Property Tax Reform 2026"). "Total property tax relief for 100% Service Connected and Individual Unemployable veterans. Eliminates all assessed value caps. Simplifies tax structure with bottom-line credits." "All Indiana veterans and surviving spouses currently receiving Indiana Disabled Veteran Property Tax Deductions, and new applicants, MUST register for property tax credits." "The benefit will begin with your 2027 tax bill." A surviving spouse is eligible if "The veteran satisfied the eligibility requirements at the time of passing" and the spouse "owns or is buying the property". The page lists four levels: a 100% or individual unemployability rating for a "100% Annual Property Tax Deduction"; 10% to 90% with wartime service and over age 62 for a "$600.00 Annual Property Tax Credit"; 10% to 90% and over age 62 for "$250.00"; and 10% to 90% with wartime service for "$350.00". What has changed since. The page says to bring "a completed and signed State Form 51186 to your County Auditor's Office" "After July 1, 2026, and before December 30, 2026". The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs now says State Form 51186 "is no longer used". File State Form 12662 with the County Auditor by January 15, 2027 for taxes due in 2027; a totally disabled veteran who had the old $14,000 deduction must file again to get the new 100% deduction, or the county applies only the $250 credit. The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs says State Form 51186 "is no longer used", and the service officer can complete the form's Section VIII certificate. See the Indiana entries on the 100 percent deduction and the $350 and $250 credits. Whether the $350 and $250 credits combine to the page's $600 line is for the Indiana entries and the Auditor.
