Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Pennsylvania's counties maintain a director of veterans affairs under 51 Pa.C.S. 8942 (see the Pennsylvania entries); Huntingdon's is a county office with its own section of the county site. The office, from that section: "This Department helps veterans procure discharge papers (DD-214s) and in-service medical records. It also processes applications for service-connected and non-service-connected compensation or pensions, home-bound or nursing-home care, hospital care, educational benefits, burial benefits, blind pensions, federal grave markers, widows' pensions, property-tax exemptions for 100%-P&T disabled veterans and their widows, emergency assistance; and liaises with area VA medical facilities." The Disabled Veterans' Real Estate Tax Exemption is the State's (51 Pa.C.S. Chapter 89; the presumption of need and the $114,637 figure are in the Pennsylvania entries), and the office is where its applications are processed in Huntingdon County. Where and who. Courthouse Annex I, Suite 2, 205 Penn Street, Huntingdon, PA 16652 - "Visitors can enter the parking lot from Washington Street behind the courthouse." Phone (814) 643-1360, fax (814) 506-9039. "Appointments are recommended. Call anytime and leave a short voice-mail message; every effort will be made to return calls in a timely manner." The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs' county directors list of September 9, 2026 names Christopher Love, 205 Penn St., Suite 2, Huntingdon (814-643-1360; fax 814-506-9039; [email protected]). The county burial benefit. The office posts the "COUNTY OF HUNTINGDON OFFICE OF VETERANS AFFAIRS ... COUNTY VETERAN BURIAL BENEFIT ($250)" application: the claimant shows the service dates and the character of discharge ("DDZ14 or equivalent" documentation attached), attests "That the decedent was a bona fide resident of Huntingdon County at the time of death", and may direct that "payment made directly to the funeral home must be signed by Veteran or Veteran's representative"; the authorization is "to issue payment of the County Veteran Burial Benefit, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250)". "Payment is contingent upon verification of eligibility by the Huntingdon County Office of Veterans Affairs" and "[s]ubmission of this form does not guarantee payment." The $250 line is the county's share of the 16 Pa.C.S. Chapter 155 duty (see the Pennsylvania entry on county burial and grave benefits); see the commissioners entry for its use. The regional court. The Unified Judicial System's list of treatment courts as of September 14, 2026 names a Regional Veterans Court, started in 2024, serving Blair, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin and Perry counties; Blair County hosts it and carries its grant money (see the Blair County entry). The list gives Huntingdon County no veterans court of its own; a Huntingdon case asks defence counsel or the treatment court office about the regional court's referral.
