The county's page links VA disability, presumptive, burial and community care benefits, the State's veterans homes and PTSD resources, and explains that a handicapped parking permit must be requested by the veteran's medical professional through the DMV. Three counties. The State's directory lists Mr. Stenka and Ms. McIntire as the officers for Boyd and Wheeler Counties too, at the O'Neill office. Holt County's budget lists the agreements - Boyd County from May 1, 1999 and Wheeler County from 2007 - and on March 17, 2025 the Board adopted a supplemental agreement with Wheeler County's veterans service committee raising Wheeler's payment to $517.00 a month through January 1, 2027, renewing a year at a time after that. Boyd County's side. Boyd County's own filed 2025-2026 budget lists the agreement among "Boyd, Holt, Wheeler Counties" for the Veteran Service Office "until terminated" and pays for it from its own Veterans' Service Officer budget (0100-803): $15,300.00 a year in 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, booked as clerical salaries, and $18,000.00 budgeted for 2025-2026, with the officer's meals, lodging and mileage, $22,200.00 in all. Boyd County's Board of Supervisors pays the Holt County Treasurer $1,275.00 a month for the veterans service (some months on one claim with other shared costs) through its September 22, 2026 claims, and reimburses Mr. Stenka's mileage ($374.10 on January 27, 2026 and $731.48 on July 21, 2026). Boyd County's Veterans Services page lists Mr. Stenka and Ms. McIntire at the O'Neill office, 402-336-1200, weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (see the Boyd County aid entry for Boyd County's own fund). Wheeler County's side. Wheeler County's Veterans Services page lists Mr. Stenka and office manager Mick McIntire at the O'Neill office, 402-336-1200, fax 402-961-2531, open Monday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. to noon, through the lunch hour. Wheeler County's filed 2025-2026 budget pays for the service from its own Veterans Service Officer budget, booked as the official's salary: $6,200.04 in 2023-2024, $6,201.03 in 2024-2025 and $7,400 for 2025-2026, in an office budget of $11,100 that also carries the veterans board's mileage and $500 for grave markers and flags; its interlocal report does not list the agreement. Wheeler County's Board of Commissioners pays the Holt County Treasurer a "veterans contract" each month: $516.67 in early 2025, $517.00 from April 30, 2025, when the Board's Resolution 20250401 raised the payment by $3.96 a year, $616.67 from July 30, 2025 through its June 2026 claims, and $1,133.33 on August 24, 2026. It also pays Mr. Stenka's meeting expenses ($510.39 on June 24, 2026); see the Wheeler County aid entry for Wheeler County's own fund. The Board's year. Mr. Stenka gives the Board a quarterly report (October 31, 2025, January 30 and May 18, 2026). On November 17, 2025 the Board accepted the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs' memorandum of understanding for January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028, and on January 8, 2026 it re-appointed Mr. Stenka and set his salary at $55,900.00 a year. The courthouse shone green for Operation Green Light for Veterans on November 4 to 11, 2025. On August 31, 2026 John Hammerlun and Bob Larson asked to build a Holt County Veterans Memorial in O'Neill, and the Board voted to let the project continue on the southwest corner of the Administration Building lot. The money. The filed 2025-2026 budget gives the office (803 Veterans' Service Officer) $107,000.00, against $99,413.76 spent in 2024-2025.
