Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

On June 24, 2025, County Administrator Dale Wagoner told the Board of Supervisors that Henry County Senior Services would launch the Miles 4 Vets Program in the area, providing transportation to veterans for medical appointments in Salem and Danville, Virginia. Ask the Parks and Recreation senior services office at 276-634-4644 about the current schedule and how to book a ride. The county's standing Senior Transportation Program separately carries county residents 60 and older, giving preference to the elderly, transportation disadvantaged and disabled, on a first come, first served basis to medical appointments, grocery shopping and occasional recreational trips. Call 276-634-4644 at least two business days before the requested date. A veteran under 60 who needs a ride to a VA appointment asks about Miles 4 Vets first; the county's page for the program had not been posted when read, so availability is confirmed by phone.
