Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

What the county posts. Haskell County's site has a "Veterans Services" page under Other County Offices, but the page carries only its heading: no officer, address, telephone or hours. The 2024-2025 adopted budget, the latest the Budgets page posts, carries General Fund department 0643, "Veterans' Services", at $2,700 (as in 2023-2024): one "Vet Service Officer" position, $1,500 of full-time salary (of which $300 had been paid when the report was run on September 6, 2024), $100 of payroll taxes, $100 for supplies, $300 for travel and $700 for the telephone. That is a stipend, not a salary; the budget does not name the officer. No budget for 2025-2026 or 2026-2027 is posted. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry). TexVet. TexVet's county list names Clifton Morris for Haskell, (940) 256-1467, [email protected]. No county page or agenda read confirms the name or says where or when he meets veterans, so call first. Where no officer is available, the Texas Veterans Commission's claims counselors help any veteran free (see the Texas entry). County contacts. The County Judge's office, Judge Kenny Thompson, Haskell County Courthouse, 1 Ave D, Haskell, Texas 79521, 940-864-2851, [email protected]. The County Clerk records discharges (see haskell-tx-county-clerk-discharges).
