Harwich’s fiscal 2026 exemption list prints $800 under clauses 22 through 22E “or higher”, the statute doubled with the rest unnamed, what clause 22J at 100 per cent produces.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Harwich grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessors’ fiscal 2026 real estate tax exemption list prints “Clause 22’s: Veterans Exemptions 22 through 22E are eligible for $800.00 exemption or higher if they have a Purple Heart or a minimum of 10% service-related disability.” $800 is clause 22’s $400 doubled, what clause 22J at 100 per cent produces; the list names no option and no higher amount, and no town meeting vote was found in the town’s online records, so ask the assessors to confirm. The Veterans Agent page names Guy Gottschalk the Service Officer at 100 Oak Street (508-430-7510), where the EOVS directory’s Harwich row lists the Cape Cod District’s Gregory Quilty at 66 Falmouth Road, Hyannis (508-778-8740). The town serves from harwich-ma.gov, where town.harwich.ma.us no longer resolves. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Harwich Veterans Agent: Guy Gottschalk, Service Officer. Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
