What the county posts. Hartley County's site - its menus, the County Judge's page and the Department Contacts directory of elected officials - has no veterans page and names no veterans service officer. How the county funds it. The 2026-2027 proposed budget (a spreadsheet on the Budgets page; the September 14, 2026 agenda lists its hearing and adoption) carries a "Veteran Services" department of $15,597.09 in both its adopted 2025-2026 column and its proposed 2026-2027 column: "Salary-Service Officer" $12,227.55, employer FICA $935.41, TCDRS retirement $1,834.13 and office expense $600. Nine months into 2025-2026 the department had spent $11,235.27. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry). TexVet. TexVet's county list names Ron Howell for Hartley, at (806) 244-4717, [email protected] - an address on Dallam County's e-mail domain. No Hartley page or agenda read names him, and TexVet names someone else (Larry Fisk) for Dallam (see dallam-tx-veterans-services), so call before travelling. Where no officer is available, the Texas Veterans Commission's claims counselors help any veteran free (see the Texas entry). County contacts. The County Judge's office, Judge Camilla Green, Hartley County Courthouse, 900 Main St, Channing, Texas 79018 (mail to P.O. Box 69); phone 806-235-3442, fax 806-635-5133; [email protected]. The County Clerk records discharges free (see hartley-tx-county-clerk-discharges).
