Harrison County's own government runs no veterans service office - the county site carries no veteran text at all - so the veterans service function is the West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance's Clarksburg Benefit Office, at 153 W Main Street, Suite C, Clarksburg, WV 26301, phone (304) 627-2175, fax (304) 627-2177, whose service officers are Ronald Nelson and Barry Stull and whose veterans service officer assistant is Jessica Dobbins, serving Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Taylor and Doddridge Counties. The department's services are free to the veteran. The Clarksburg VA Medical Center is in the county, though no county page mentions it. Discharge papers. County Clerk John R. Spires's office, 229 S. Third Street, Clarksburg, (304) 624-8674, publishes a Request a DD214 Military Discharge Application on its downloads page - it requires photo identification, warns that a false application is a felony under state and federal law, and cites Code 7-1-3LL, under which discharges are stored "in a secure manner, rendering the records unavailable to the public" with a public Military Discharge Index. The clerk's published fee schedule, effective July 1, 2025, has no discharge-recording line, consistent with Code 59-1-10(a)(5): "No charge for a service discharge record." The commission's veteran funding in the year read is real money. On October 1, 2025 it approved $2,500.00 to Meuse-Argonne VFW Post 573 "towards their Veteran's Day Parade"; the VFW's final report in the January 7, 2026 agenda thanks the commission and notes a local printer's standing veteran's discount. On February 4, 2026 it approved $2,000.00 to Operation Firm Handshake Inc. "towards their annual Veterans Day of Recognition Event". The commission's equal-opportunity boilerplate protects veteran status. After May 2026 no further agendas or minutes were posted when read, so the later year is unverified. Harrison County is the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit, and its adult drug court, established 2015, carries a veterans treatment court track - see the county's veterans treatment court entry.
