The office. Connie Becton, Hardin County Clerk, first floor of the Hardin County Courthouse, Suite B-110; mailing address PO Box 38, 300 W Monroe, Ste B-110, Kountze, TX 77625; (409) 246-5185; [email protected]; Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The discharge line. The Clerk's Vital Records section: "DD214 - Thank you for your service. The Hardin County Clerk's office issues certified copies of Military Discharge Records to service members or their immediate family members." Its DD-214 application is headed "MILITARY DISCHARGE (DD214) (NO CHARGE for DD214)", asks for the veteran's name and date of discharge, warns of the penalty for a false statement, and states "All Requests for DD214 Must Have Picture I.D". The 2024 fee chart has no discharge line, because none is charged: Local Government Code 192.002 makes recording free, Government Code 603.003 makes the certified copy free, and Government Code 552.140 keeps a discharge recorded on or after September 1, 2003 confidential, releasing it only to the veteran and the others it lists (see the Texas entry).
