Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

No county officer. Hamilton County's site has no veterans page, its county directory (updated October 27, 2026) lists no veterans office, and the 2026-27 adopted budget (adopted September 8, 2026 by a record vote of all five members) has no veterans department: the General Fund runs from the County Judge, Commissioners Court and County Clerk through non-departmental costs, the county and district courts, District Clerk, County and District Attorneys, Finance Director, Treasurer, Tax Assessor-Collector, Courthouse, hospital security, indigent health care and the Extension Service. None of the year's minutes names a veterans officer. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep one (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry). Where to go. TexVet's county list gives, for Hamilton, the "Texas Veterans Commission Dallas Office" at (214) 857-0444. The Commission's claims counselors help any veteran free (see the Texas entry); call the Commission or the County Judge's office (254-386-1290) to learn where Hamilton County veterans are seen.
