Hamilton County Auditor: Disabled Veteran Deduction and Credits
The Hamilton County Auditor's page is current on House Enrolled Act 1210's $350 and $250 credits and new 100% deduction, due January 15, 2027, but describes the deduction as for a "total disability rating" where IC 6-1.1-12-14 accepts a VA pension certificate, and leaves out the surviving spouse. It rightly says a home held in a trust does not qualify.
Also called: property tax, deduction, 100% deduction, House Enrolled Act 1210, State Form 12662, January 15, $350 credit, $250 credit, county auditor, trust, Noblesville.
The deduction and credits are the State's; see the Indiana entries on the 100 percent deduction for totally disabled veterans and on the $350 and $250 credits. The Auditor's Real Property Department administers them (Historic Courthouse, 33 N 9th Street, Noblesville; 317-770-4412). Bring the DD-214 and the VA letter of compensation, or State Form 12662 from Veteran Services; applications for taxes due in 2027 are due January 15, 2027.
What the page gets right. The $350 credit for a wartime veteran with a service-connected disability of 10% or more, the $250 credit for a veteran 62 or older with 10% or more, and the new deduction of the whole assessed value for a veteran with 90 days of service, an honorable discharge, a total disability and a year of Indiana residence, on a home the veteran owns and lives in. It also says a home titled in a trust or LLC does not qualify; that is right for this deduction, because IC 6-1.1-12-17.9, which lets a trust claim the other veteran deductions, does not list section 14.
Where it narrows.
- "A total disability rating". IC 6-1.1-12-14(a) asks for a total disability evidenced by a VA pension certificate or award of compensation, or an Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs certificate; a veteran on the VA pension, or paid at the 100% rate through individual unemployability, should apply.
- The surviving spouse. Section 14(b) gives the deduction to an unremarried surviving spouse of a qualifying veteran, whoever owned the home before; the page does not mention it.
Anyone who had the old deduction must file again for 2027.

Rule
A total disability for the 100% deduction; 10% for the credits
The 100% deduction needs a total disability, which a VA pension certificate can also show. The $350 and $250 credits start at 10%. Recorded, not enforced.
