For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Code § 36.48, adopted as Ord. 290 in 1989 and last amended by Ord. 689 on September 18, 2017, gives a veteran entitled to the exemption under C.G.S. 12-81(19) or 12-81(20), and a surviving spouse entitled under 12-81(22), an additional $15,000 off assessed value. The income limit is not more than $25,000 above the 12-81l amount, so it moves each year with the state’s. One such exemption is allowed per grand list. The application is filed with the assessor by October 1 with the federal tax return, and every other year after the first approval. Code § 36.46 exempts in full one vehicle specially equipped for a disabled veteran. Hamden’s assessor page names a “Veterans tax credit program” filed by October 1 and links form D-2 for the 12-81(83) dwelling exemption, but prints no amounts or income limits, so this entry rests on the ordinance. Hamden did not answer OLR’s 2023 survey.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
