Griswold Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Griswold’s assessor page says the office administers the veterans’ exemptions among its programs and prints no amounts; OLR’s 2023 survey records the town answering no to every municipal option.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Griswold.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s page says the office “administers the State of Connecticut Homeowners Rebate Program, Renters’ Rebate Program, 490 Program, (farm, forest and open space) The Totally Disabled and Veterans as well as the Local Farm Building Exemption and any other exemption and/or abatement that the Town of Griswold creates.” No veterans’ amounts are printed, and the office’s veteran motor-vehicle application is a scan with no readable text. The wartime exemption is $1,000 of assessed value under C.G.S. 12-81(19), with the 12-81g(a) additional exemption of twice that for income under the 12-81l limit, $46,300 single and $56,500 married for the 2026 grand list. Griswold answered OLR’s 2023 survey and recorded no municipal option of any kind. Its code is on eCode360 (GR0831), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168). Ask the assessor which amounts Griswold applies.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
