For: Veteran or service member, spouse, child, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

What the page says. Greeley County's Veterans Services page lists, among the county's veterans benefits, the County Veterans' Aid Fund (CVA) "To meet immediate emergency financial needs", beside the State's Nebraska Veterans' Aid fund "For unforeseen emergency financial needs", and prints no eligibility test. The officer is Boone County's, Robert McCurdy (see the Boone County office entry, which also serves Greeley County), in the Greeley County Courthouse on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., (308) 428-2925, and in Albion the other weekdays. Where the money is. Greeley County's filed 2025-2026 budget carries a Veteran's Aid fund (1900) with nothing in it: no balance, receipts or spending in 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 and nothing budgeted for 2025-2026, and its general fund Veterans Aid lines (0100-802, veterans aid cost and emergency relief) are zero in every column too. The county money for veterans is the officer's agreement with Boone County and the office budget (0100-803, $10,430.00 for 2025-2026). The Board's May 28, 2025 claims paid $13,000.00 from the inheritance tax fund for repair of the veterans' wall. Who qualifies. Section 80-102 lets the county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need; since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county. Ask the officer, who serves under Greeley County's own Veteran Service Board; see the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion and the State's own aid fund.
