For: Veteran or service member, spouse, child, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

No county officer. Gray County's site has no veterans page beyond a link to the Texas Veterans Portal, and its FY2027 adopted budget has no veterans department. TexVet's county list gives, for Gray, the "Texas Veterans Commission Amarillo Office" at (806) 468-1885. The Commission's own county directory is not open to automated reading, so call to confirm where and when its counselor sees Gray County veterans. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry). The VFW grant. The FY2027 budget (the county's year runs October to September) carries $4,500 on line 01-52200-5856, "Veteran's of Foreign Wars", in department 2200, "General Misc.", among the county's grants to senior centers, libraries, fire departments and shelters; the FY2026 budget carries the same $4,500. The budget does not say which post receives it or what it buys. VFW Post 1657 came before the Court on February 2, 2026 offering a Liberty statue (see the Court's entry).
