Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The rules are the State's; see the North Carolina entry on G.S. 47-113.2, which lets the register record discharges and keeps the record open only to the veteran and the people the statute allows, the recording itself free. What the county's Register of Deeds page says of the office: "The Register of Deeds Office provides proper maintenance, storage, recording, and indexing of the County's public records. The office files and indexes vital records (birth, death, and marriages) and issues marriage licenses. Real Estate documents (deeds, deeds of trust, plats, etc.) are recorded, indexed, and scanned as permanent records, and military discharges are filed and indexed. Deeds are available dating back to the year 1746. Documents are available online and copies are available upon request." The office also administers notary oaths; the Granville page points to the county's online index. The Register is Kathy Taylor. Where.
