Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemption is the State's; the Washington entry explains it. The Grant County Assessor administers it from the courthouse, 35 C Street NW, Ephrata (509-754-2011, extension 2683). What the office publishes. Its Senior Citizen & People With Disabilities Tax Programs page asks that the claimant be "at least 61 years of age or disabled from regular gainful employment" and gives the income limits of $44,675 and $46,000 for income years to 2025; it does not mention the veteran route. The application in use still offers the box "I am a veteran with an 80% service-connected evaluation or compensated at 100% rate due to service-connected disability", and lists VA disability compensation and DIC among the income that counts as nothing. The Assessor's 2026 press release says the programme serves "disabled veterans with a disability rating of 80% or higher" and that "Beginning January 1, 2027... The base income threshold will increase to $61,000. In addition, a standardized deduction of $7,500 for individuals or $15,000 for joint filers will be automatically applied," so the effective ceiling reaches $68,500 for one person and $76,000 for a couple. People now in the two lower exemption levels "will be automatically advanced to the highest level of exemption (SC1)" on their 2027 statements without applying again. The office advises waiting until all 2026 income documents are in hand before applying. What the law now says. Chapter 200, Laws of 2025 lets a veteran with a combined service-connected evaluation of 40% or more, or a total disability rating at any percentage (which reaches a veteran paid for individual unemployability), qualify at any age for taxes collected from 2027; the 80% in the office's release and application is the rule for taxes collected in 2026. The Department of Revenue's thresholds for Grant County for 2027 to 2029 are $46,000, $53,000 and $61,000, with a deferral threshold of $68,110.
