Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The officer. Grant County's Veterans Services page says "Box Butte County VSO now takes care of Grant County Veterans" and lists Sarah Foland, 308-762-4154, at 524 Box Butte Avenue, Suite D, Alliance, open 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (see the Box Butte County office entry, which also serves Grant County). Where the money is. Grant County's filed 2025-2026 budget lists no veterans aid fund among its funds and no aid line in its general budget; its only veterans line is the Veterans' Service Officer budget (0100-803), contractual services of $7,560.00 in 2024-2025 and $9,250.00 budgeted for 2025-2026, for Box Butte County's officer. Who qualifies. Section 80-102 lets a county veterans service committee aid a veteran, a spouse, a surviving spouse or a minor child in need; since LB1300 (Laws 2024, section 45) the veteran need only have served, been discharged honorable or general (under honorable conditions) or died in service, and lived a year in Nebraska and six months in the county. Grant County keeps no county money for it; ask Ms. Foland, 308-762-4154, about the State's Nebraska Veterans' Aid fund and any county help, or the County Clerk in Hyannis, (308) 458-2488. See the Nebraska entry on the county fund for the committee's discretion.
