Grant County Auditor: the veterans deduction and credit filings

Grant County's Auditor publishes no veteran route of its own; the county's 2026 record is the Commissioners' and Veterans Affairs Office's push on the new veterans property-tax deduction - extended office hours, a temporary employee and a $5,000 postcard mailing approved August 17, 2026 - while the State's Form 12662 deadline of January 15, 2027 governs.

Also called: property tax, deduction, 100% deduction, veterans deduction, county auditor, State Form 12662, January 15, postcard, surviving spouse, Marion, Marion, Gas City, Jonesboro, Upland, Sweetser, Swayzee, Fairmount.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The deduction and credits are the State's; see the Indiana entries on the 100 percent deduction for totally disabled veterans and on the $350 and $250 credits, including the Form 12662 deadline of January 15, 2027. The county's part is the Auditor's, whose "Deduction Forms" page carries the filing forms; the Auditor's own pages publish no veteran text of their own. The county's year. The veteran deduction is what Grant County's 2026 records are about: the Veterans Affairs Officer's "update on the Veteran property tax reform" with the extended office hours approved March 16, 2026; the temporary employee and the IDVA merger proposal May 18, 2026; the assistant officer's "upwards of 100" new filings since the tax reform (July 6, 2026); and the Commissioners' 2-0 approval of "$5,000.00" for postcards "to mail out ... for the new Veterans Property tax deduction" (August 17, 2026). A Grant County veteran who served before the postcards should still file on Form 12662 by January 15, 2027 - the postcard campaign is the county's reminder, not a separate route.
