Granby Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Granby’s assessors’ pages print no exemption amounts - the Board of Assessors’ page says the office has "a staff of one" and lists no members - so this entry gives the statute’s; its Veteran’s Services page is a contact block with no officer named, and the EOVS directory names Northampton’s Daniel Nye, whose department’s e-mail address the town’s page prints.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Granby.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Granby grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Board of Assessors’ page describes the office’s work - valuing every property, a certification review every five years and the motor vehicle excise - and says "We perform this work with a staff of one and we hire a professional appraisal firm and a consultant to assist us", printing no exemption amount and with no acceptance of clause 22I or 22J found, so the figures here are the statute’s. Its Members section lists none, and the page gives the office’s hours, Monday through Thursday 9 am to 3 pm and Friday 9 am to noon, at Town Hall Annex, 215B West State Street (413-467-7196, fax 413-467-3101, [email protected]); the town’s real estate taxes page sends exemption questions to the Assessor’s Office at the same number, and the site has no exemptions page of its own. The Veteran’s Services page is a contact block: 10-B West State Street, the Senior Center Building’s second floor, by appointment, with the e-mail address [email protected] and no officer named, its Staff section rendering empty. The EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 row lists Daniel Nye, Northampton’s Veterans’ Services Director, on the Granby row - Memorial Hall, 240 Main Street, Room 4, Northampton (413-587-1299) - at the same e-mail address the town’s page prints, so Granby’s chapter 115 administration is Northampton’s department, the Central Hampshire Veterans’ Services district the city’s own entry describes; the town’s page gives the Granby office and asks for an appointment. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Granby Veteran’s Services: Central Hampshire Veterans’ Services, Daniel Nye, Director (EOVS directory). Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
