Goshen Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

Goshen’s exemptions page describes the wartime, additional, disabled and active-duty programs without printing a veteran amount, and OLR’s survey recorded a $20,000 wartime option at the town’s own income limits plus the 12-81g(b) three-times option.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, Goshen.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s Property Tax Exemptions page requires the DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk of residence by September 30 for the wartime exemption, and an annual active-duty letter by September 30. For the additional exemption it says a veteran meeting the basic exemption “may be eligible for an additional assessment exemption if they meet certain income limits,” with the application filed by October 1 and biennially thereafter. No amounts are printed for any veteran exemption. The page also describes the active-duty vehicle exemption, the total exemption of one motor vehicle registered to or leased by the service member applied for by December 31 following the tax due date, and a local-option exemption for a specially equipped motor vehicle. Disabled veterans file the VA rating statement once, refiling only if the percentage changes. OLR’s 2023 survey recorded Goshen as offering the 12-81f(a) wartime additional exemption at $20,000 with income limits of $74,100 married and $65,300 single, the state’s OPM amount plus $25,000, and the 12-81g(b) three-times option. No ordinance was found on a readable host. Ask the assessor for the amounts the town applies now.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
