Gentry County Recorder of Deeds: Military Discharge Recording

Mo. Rev. Stat. 59.480 makes the recording of a discharge free and limits who may see or copy it; see the Missouri entry. The Recorder's site lists among the office's duties "File and maintain Military Discharge documents", and its fee schedule lists "Military Discharge" at "No Charge" (its "Federal tax Lien Discharge $7.50" is a tax lien release, not a military discharge). The posted schedule still prices a standard document at $24 for the first page, below the $26 the neighbouring Atchison County Recorder posts, so it may be out of date; the discharge is free under the statute either way. The office says it will not take pictures or scans of documents by phone, and asks for a self-addressed stamped envelope with mailed recordings. Copies of a discharge go only to the veteran or an authorized party on the Recorders Association of Missouri's notarized request; the site posts no form, so ask the office. Where.
