The office. Brenda Fietsam, County Clerk, 246 W. Colorado St., La Grange (north of the Courthouse); mailing address P.O. Box 59, La Grange, TX 78945; phone (979) 968-3251, fax (979) 968-8531; [email protected]. Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed noon to 1. Copies can be requested by e-mail through the page's contact form. The missing line. The Clerk's fee schedule (as of January 1, 2024, updated July 17, 2026) lists recording, assumed name ($23), posting, civil, probate, vital records and copy fees, and the page lists the kinds of records the Clerk keeps; neither names military discharges. Local Government Code 192.002 makes the filing free, Government Code 603.003 makes the certified copy free, and Government Code 552.140 keeps the record confidential, releasing it only to the veteran and the others it lists (see the Texas entry). A veteran asked to pay the $5 certification fee for a discharge should cite the statutes.
