For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Section 8-29.2(5) of the Fauquier County Code makes one motor vehicle owned and regularly used by a veteran who has lost, or lost the use of, one or both legs, or an arm or a hand, or who is blind, or who is permanently and totally disabled as certified by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, a separate class of tangible personal property under Code of Virginia section 58.1-3506(A)(19). The veteran gives the Commissioner of the Revenue a written statement from DVS that he or she is in the class and that the disability is service-connected. The routes are alternatives, so limb loss or blindness qualifies at any rating. The rate for a separate class is set in the county's annual tax levy, and the county's rate pages could not be read. Fauquier County's own pages were not reachable for this entry: fauquiercounty.gov returned an Access Denied page to every automated request on September 30, 2026. This entry rests on the county code.
