Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

No county office. Falls County's site has no veterans page, and its FY2026-2027 approved budget (adopted September 14, 2026; the county's year runs October to September) has no veterans department; the County Judge's department pays the judge and one administrative assistant. TexVet's county list names "Jay Elliot" for Falls at (254) 883-1426 with the e-mail [email protected]: the number is the office of County Judge Jay T. Elliott (Falls County Courthouse, Room 203, 125 Bridge Street, Marlin, TX 76661; [email protected]; Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The county does not say whether the judge files claims; call the office first. A county of under 200,000 people is not required to keep an officer (Government Code 434.032; see the Texas entry). Where the county points. The "Resources for Falls County" placard on the home page lists, under Veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs in Waco (701 Clay Ave., 800-827-1000), the Veterans One Stop (2010 LaSalle Ave., Suite A, Waco, 254-297-7171), Caritas's Veterans Case Management Program (300 S. 15th St., Waco, 254-753-4593 extension 203) and the Texas Veterans Commission at the Workforce Solutions office (1416 S. New Road, Waco, 866-982-9226), with the Heart of Texas Rural Transit District for rides. A study the county links. The home page also links a flyer for the Veterans Gateway Project, a research study at the Waco VA campus (Building 93) on the causes of PTSD, depression and chronic pain: an interview and questionnaire, a brain MRI and three small vials of blood over three visits, paid $150 for the first and $90 for each later visit; 254-297-3951. It is the VA's study, not a county programme, and taking part does not affect VA care.
