The Hall of Fame. The Fairfield County Veterans Hall of Fame "recognizes the efforts of Fairfield County's distinguished men and women who have worn the uniform of our nation's armed forces and then continued to contribute to their community, state, and nation through exceptional acts of volunteerism, advocacy, professional distinction, public service, and philanthropy" - not a military hall of fame, but a veteran's hall of fame, focused on what came after the uniform. Its site carries the rules and the printable 2026 nomination form. Who is eligible. The rules ask that the nominee be a current Fairfield County resident (or, posthumously, resident at death), of good moral character, and discharged "Honorable" for all periods of service: "Veterans awarded a 'General Under Honorable' discharge are not eligible for the Fairfield County Veterans Hall of Fame." Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame inductees from the county are considered automatically, and sitting county-level or higher elected officials, Hall of Fame executive board members, Veterans Service Commission members and Veterans Services employees are ineligible until a year after leaving their positions. Nominating. A packet of the nomination form, discharge papers and a narrative of no more than ten typed, single-sided 8.5 by 11 pages - no original documents - goes to the Fairfield County Veterans Hall of Fame Committee, PO Box 483, Lancaster, Ohio 43130, by the deadline printed on the form, September 1, 2026. The form asks that inductees be available to attend the April ceremony. The county's part. The Hall of Fame began with a $5,000 grant: on August 12, 2025 the commissioners adopted resolution 2025-08.12.b, a grant agreement between the Fairfield County America 250-Ohio Committee and the America 250-Ohio Commission "for the Fairfield County Veterans Hall of Fame", with a companion resolution appropriating the funds, and its committee met in Commissioner David Levacy's office through 2025 and 2026. The first induction banquet came on November 13, 2025 at the Levacy Center, with 29 inductees - "the very first congressional medal of honor recipient, Army Private Jacob Parrott", a Fairfield County man, among them. Commissioner Levacy told the board there are "over 10,000 veterans in Fairfield County and these veterans should be cared for and acknowledged." The monument. The commissioners' July 28, 2026 minutes record that the 2026 induction ceremony was set for November 19 and that "the Veterans Monument, which will be located on the first floor of the Administrative Courthouse, will serve as a meaningful tribute." The county's Administrative Courthouse is at 210 East Main Street, Lancaster. The site's inductee and Medal of Honor pages were placeholders when read.
