Eureka County Clerk-Recorder: Recording Military Discharge Papers
The Eureka County Clerk-Recorder (Katherine J Bowling) records at the $37 standard fee under NRS 247.305, and its 2024 recording-fee schedule lists no military-discharge line, so free recording rests on NRS 419.020.
NRS 419.020 requires every county recorder to record a certificate of honorable discharge "free of any charge therefor"; see the Nevada entry. The Eureka County Clerk-Recorder's Office - Katherine J Bowling, Clerk Recorder - maintains the county's records, and its pages cover elections, fictitious firm names, the newspaper search and the downloadable documents.
The fee schedule the office posts (2024 RECORDING FEES, read 2026-10-26) prices "REGULAR DOCUMENTS (per NRS 247.305), Total Fee: $37" - $25 of recording fee plus the $5 technology fund, $5 legal service for the indigent and the smaller lines - and lists the map fees. It lists no line for a military discharge, so the office neither charges one nor prints the statutory free rule; a veteran asked to pay for recording an honorable discharge should cite NRS 419.020. What the pages do not say is whether a recorded discharge appears in the public index; recorded documents in Nevada are generally open to public inspection, so a veteran weighing whether to record a DD-214 should ask the office first. Recording a discharge is always optional.
