Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

NRS 419.020 requires every county recorder to record a certificate of honorable discharge "free of any charge therefor"; see the Nevada entry. The Esmeralda County Recorder - Vera Boyer, Recorder/Auditor, with deputies Austin McMahon-Keim, Bradyn Shenberger and Heather Katick - is at 403 Crook Street, #458, P.O. Box 458, Goldfield, NV 89013, (775) 485-6337, and runs an online Esmeralda County Document Inquiry. The format rules the office prints are the statute's without the discharge exception: its General Recording Requirements page requires legible documents on white 20-pound paper, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, no smaller than 10-point Times New Roman, with a one-inch margin on the left, right and bottom of each page - the NRS 247.110 rules, which statewide except a "military discharge" from the paper-size, margin and corner requirements, are printed here without that exception. The Schedule of Fees (effective January 1, 2020) prices the standard recording fee at $37.00, the Notice of Default at $250 plus the standard fee, the real property transfer tax at $1.95 per $500, and the maps and mining documents; it lists no line for a military discharge. A veteran asked to pay for recording an honorable discharge should cite NRS 419.020, and recording a discharge is always optional.
