Esmeralda County Assessor: Veterans' and Disabled Veterans' Exemptions

The Esmeralda County Assessor in Goldfield administers the State's exemptions across five appraisal districts re-appraised once every five years; the office publishes no exemption text or amounts, so the 2026-27 figures rest on the Nevada entries.

Also called: property tax, assessor, NRS 361.090, NRS 361.091, Goldfield, appraisal districts, secured tax, unsecured tax, surviving spouse.

For: Veteran or service member, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The exemptions are the State's, under NRS 361.090 for a veteran who served in a listed period or campaign and NRS 361.091 for a permanent service-connected disability of 60% or more; the Nevada entries explain them, including the rule that separate ratings are added together. The Esmeralda County Assessor administers them in Goldfield. What the office's own pages add (read 2026-10-26). The Assessor's site explains how taxable value is determined - land valued from market sales or recognized appraisal methods where vacant-land sales are limited, buildings at replacement cost new less depreciation - and states the county's assessment cycle: "Esmeralda County has 5 appraisal districts with each district being re-appraised once every five years. This involves performing a field inspection of each property." The office maintains ownership records, mailing addresses, physical addresses and plat maps, prepares and mails the personal-property bills, and runs the county's secured, unsecured and patented-mines tax inquiry systems and its online declarations. None of it prints a veteran-exemption text or an amount, so the 2026-27 figures ($3,640 of assessed value for a veteran; $18,200, $27,300 or $36,400 at 60%, 80% or 100%) rest on the Nevada entries, and the claim is made at the office with the DD-214 and the VA percentage documentation in hand; the June 15 real-property deadline the State entries carry is the operative one.
