Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Idaho law requires no county veterans service officer, and most claims help comes from the State Division of Veterans Services (see the Idaho entries), but Elmore County employs its own. Its page: "Veterans Service Office (VSO) assists Veterans and their dependents in preparing claims for benefits or privileges to which they may be entitled as administered by the US Department of Veterans Affairs." Who and where. Daniel Crandall, Veterans Service Officer, 515 East 2nd South, Mountain Home, ID 83647; 208-587-2130 ext. 1296, fax 208-587-4909; Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Board's minutes list him among the county's department heads, and his office presented its own budget at the Board's hearings of June 5, 2026. The base. Mountain Home Air Force Base, home of the 366th Fighter Wing, sits in the county; its retirees and separating airmen who live in the county can use this office. The page also links the Mountain Home chapter of the Disabled American Veterans and the VA's MakeTheConnection.net mental health site. A caution. The office's page still carries the 2019 announcement of the State's property tax benefit for veterans rated 100% ("$1,320 ... Apply from January 1, 2019 - April 15th, 2019"); the amount is now $1,500 and the rules are wider (see the Assessor entry and the Idaho entry).
