Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Ellis County runs a veterans treatment court under Government Code chapter 124; see the Texas entry for the statute's eligibility and dismissal rules. The county's page: "Veterans' Court offers a treatment program that judicially supervises and supports Ellis County's Justice Involved Veterans (JIV) who have suffered injuries during their military service, whether those injuries have manifested in physical, mental, and/or emotional ways". It is "designed to divert our applicants out of the traditional criminal justice process and into the appropriate treatment/rehabilitative alternatives"; once screened, assessed and approved, a participant "will promptly begin a treatment regimen that is specific to his/her needs." Who runs it. The Office of Court Administration's registry of October 1, 2026 lists the 378th District Veterans Treatment Court with William Wallace as judge and Brent Dorrough ([email protected]) as coordinator; the Commissioners Court's 2025-26 agendas name Dorrough as the court's program manager. The county's page gives the coordinator's address as [email protected]. How to apply. "Please review the Eligibility tab and then complete the Initial Eligibility Request Forms on the left side of this page. Return all forms and supporting documentation by email to the Veterans' Treatment Court Coordinator." Without a DD-214, the VA's Veteran Justice Outreach coordinator, Beth Snear ([email protected], 682-415-0145), helps get it first. The money. "This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans' Assistance." On August 18, 2026 the Commissioners Court accepted a $200,000 award for September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027; in 2026 it also contracted Homeward Bound, Inc. for substance use assessments and built a pool of licensed clinicians for behavioural health assessments.
