Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s Veterans’ Exemptions pamphlet (revised February 2020) requires residence in Easton by the October 1 assessment date, 90 days’ service during a period of war - or a combat or combat support role of less than 90 days with the expeditionary medal, or for the duration of a campaign - and the DD-214 filed by October 1. “Exemption is in the amount of $4,000 off assessment.” The statutory 12-81(19) amount is $1,000, so the pamphlet prints the revaluation-raised amount. “Once qualified for a veteran’s exemption a veteran is automatically entitled to an additional exemption amount of half of the present exemption entitlement,” and “the Additional Veteran’s exemption is double the exemption if income qualified. Recommended income limits are updated yearly by the State of Connecticut, Office of Policy & Management. A biennial application is required.” The pamphlet prints no income figure. The disability table prints $8,000 for a 10 to 25 percent rating, $10,000 for 26 to 50, $12,000 for 51 to 75, and $14,000 for 76 to 100 percent and for age 65 and over, against the statutory $2,000 to $3,500. The active-duty exemption covers one passenger motor vehicle on an annual letter from the commanding officer, filed not later than December 31. Easton’s veteran resources page requires Form D-2 by January 1 annually for the 12-81(83) dwelling exemption under Public Act 24-46. The town’s code is on eCode360 (EA2974), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168). Easton did not answer OLR’s 2023 survey.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
