Eastham Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Eastham’s Exemption/Assistance Programs page prints the statute’s own range and posts the Commonwealth’s Form 96-4, so this entry gives the statute’s; its Veteran Assistance page lists the Cape Cod District’s Hyannis office, the officer the EOVS directory names on the Eastham row.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Eastham.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Eastham grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Assessing Department names Colleen Mercurio the Principal Assessor and Carolyn Burnett the Assistant Assessor at 2500 State Highway (508-240-5900, extension 3215), where the elected Board of Assessors’ page seats three members the Select Board appoints for three-year overlapping terms and names none of them. The department’s Exemption/Assistance Programs page prints the fiscal 2027 tax rate of $8.28 residential and $8.12 all other classes, records the Select Board’s September 8, 2026 vote adopting an 8 per cent residential exemption for fiscal 2027, and gives the veterans’ clauses, "Clauses 22, 22A, 22B, 22C, 22D, 22E, Paraplegics exemption", at "Minimum $400 - maximum full exemption" on the statute’s current residence test, "Have lived in Massachusetts 6 months prior to entering service or have lived in Massachusetts for two consecutive years before filing for clause"; its Veteran Exemption Application is the Commonwealth’s State Tax Form 96-4, revised 7/2017. No acceptance of clause 22I or 22J was found on the town’s site, so the figures here are the statute’s. The town’s Veteran Assistance page, filed under the Senior Center, is a list of local agencies: the Cape Cod Vet Center in Hyannis, a "Veteran’s Agent-Harwich" at 732 Main Street, Harwich (508-430-7510), the Hyannis veterans’ clinic and a "Veteran Services Department-Hyannis" at 66 Falmouth Road (508-778-8740) - the Cape Cod District office the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 Eastham row lists, Gregory Quilty ([email protected]) the officer its Dennis, Mashpee and Brewster rows name, where the district’s capevets.org answers a Cloudflare challenge that does not clear. The page names no post of the town’s own. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Eastham Veteran Assistance: Cape Cod District Veterans’ Services, Hyannis (EOVS directory: Gregory Quilty). Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

The rating filter does not hide this entry, because several routes need no rating.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
