Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

Code § 18-9, Ord. No. 730 of May 19, 2003 as amended by Ord. No. 789 on May 10, 2007, gives a veteran entitled under C.G.S. 12-81(19) an additional exemption of up to $8,000 off assessed value, and a surviving spouse entitled under 12-81(22) up to $8,000, in each case for income not more than the 12-81l maximum as amended from time to time. Applications follow 12-81f. Code § 18-12 adopts the 12-81(21)(C) option: the dwelling house and its lot are fully exempt for a veteran who received financial assistance for specially adapted housing under section 801 of Title 38 of the United States Code and applied it to the dwelling. OLR’s 2023 survey also recorded East Haven as offering the 12-81g(b) exemption, three times the 12-81(20) amount for a veteran rated 100 percent with income of $21,000 single or $24,000 married, and the 12-81h specially equipped vehicle exemption. No ordinance adopting either was found; the town’s code has no other veterans’ exemption sections. The assessor’s exemptions page takes a DD-214 with the Town Clerk before October 1 and a VA award letter by March 31, once unless the rating changes.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
