East Haddam Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions

East Haddam’s relief page prints the additional veteran’s exemption at income of $46,300 single and $56,500 married for the October 2026 grand list, and an in-service motor vehicle exemption; OLR’s survey recorded the specially equipped vehicle option.

Also called: property tax, 12-81g, veterans exemption, assessor, East Haddam.

For: Veteran or service member.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The assessor’s office page says the office “administers various exemption and abatement programs related to property taxes for veterans, low-income seniors and disabled,” and its menu carries a property tax relief page for seniors, veterans and the disabled that prints the town’s veterans’ programs: the Veteran’s Exemption for 90 days of wartime service with an honorable discharge, the DD-214 filed with the Town Clerk prior to October 1, and the VA disability rating filed on form 20-5455; the Additional Veteran’s Exemption for income-qualified veterans - “For the October 2026 Grand List, the income limit for a single veteran is $46,300 and $56,500 for a married veteran,” filed between February 1st and October 1st with the DD-214 on file by the prior September 30th; and an In-Service Exemption of one passenger motor vehicle on the commanding officer’s letter filed each year by December 31st. The wartime exemption itself is $1,000 of assessed value under C.G.S. 12-81(19). East Haddam answered OLR’s 2023 survey and recorded one municipal option, the specially equipped motor vehicle under 12-81h. Its code of ordinances sits on eCode360 (EA2704), which stayed behind its Cloudflare challenge (dubiousenvelope/vettoc issue 168), so no ordinance was read. Ask the assessor for the amounts it applies beyond those printed.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
