Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Fourth Judicial Circuit runs the Duval County Veterans Treatment Court under section 394.47891 of the Florida Statutes; see the Florida entry. It sits every Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 212 of the Duval County Courthouse, 501 W. Adams Street, and its proceedings are confidential. Who. Current and former service members arrested for a criminal offense where "a nexus between the offense or diagnoses and the veteran's military service exists". The court states its target population as veterans with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, other psychological conditions, sexual trauma or substance abuse that manifested in service "or after an honorable or general under honorable discharge". Section 394.47891 sets no discharge test and leaves only a dishonorable discharge to the chief judge and state attorney, so a veteran with an other than honorable discharge should still ask to be screened. Cost. The handbook sets a $480 mandatory programme fee paid to the Clerk by phase ($30, $90, $90, $120, $150), each phase's share due before advancing; a participant who cannot pay is told to talk to the case manager. Add the $50 Public Defender application fee where it applies, $50 to the State Attorney for pretrial and diversion participants, Department of Corrections drug testing and supervision costs on felony probation, and any restitution. Participants get a veteran mentor matched where possible by gender, branch and era, and help reaching VA health care and benefits. Clay and Nassau Counties have their own veterans courts in the same circuit.
