DuPage County Recorder: Free DD-214 Recording and Certified Copies

The DuPage County Recorder's fee schedule lists recording a DD-214 military discharge and its certified copies at no charge, where other documents cost $86 to record and certified copies $5. The VAC also helps veterans find and retrieve discharge documents.

The Recorder's fee schedule reads "DD214 Military Discharge & Certified Copies: No Charge". By comparison a deed or most other documents cost $86 to record, copies are 50 cents a page and certification is $5 a document. The Recorder is at 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton ([email protected]). The Veterans Assistance Commission also locates and retrieves discharge documents for veterans who have lost them.
