Dudley Veterans’ Property Tax Exemptions (Clauses 22 to 22F)

Dudley’s assessors post the Commonwealth’s Form 96-4 with no amount of the town’s own, so this entry gives the statute’s; its Veterans Office is the town’s own, districted with Webster since July 1, 2023 under District Director Stephen P. Rogerson, whose emergency line the page gives beside the directory’s row.

Also called: property tax, clause 22, 22E, veterans exemption, assessors, Dudley.

For: Veteran or service member, spouse, survivor.

Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The Town of Dudley grants the veterans’ exemptions of G.L. c. 59, s. 5, clauses 22 to 22F, through its board of assessors. The statute sets them as dollars off the tax bill, $400 under clause 22, $750, $1,250 and $1,500 under 22A to 22C and $1,000 under 22E, and exempts the whole domicile under 22D and 22F; a town can add to them only by accepting a local option, clause 22I, clause 22J or section 5C½. Every figure on this entry carries its source and the day it was read. The Board of Assessors’ page names Conrad M. Allen the chairman and David Durgin and Jo-Ann Szymczak the members (meeting at 8 am on the second Friday of each month, Town Hall Room 321A), with Lisa Berg the Principal Assessor (508-949-8006) at Town Hall, 71 West Main Street, second floor (508-949-8000), printing the FY2026 single tax rate of $10.06. The department’s Real Estate Tax Exemptions page posts application PDFs alone - blind, infirmity, senior and senior surviving spouse, and a "Veteran Exemption Application (PDF)" that is the Commonwealth’s State Tax Form 96-4, revised 7/2017 - and its FAQ lists exemptions "for certain qualifying taxpayers: elderly persons, blind persons, disabled veteran, surviving spouse and extreme hardship", qualifying July 1 and due within 90 days of the final bills, with no amount of the town’s own. No acceptance of clause 22I or 22J was found on the site, so the figures here are the statute’s. The Veterans Office page says "As of July 1, 2023, the Towns of Dudley and Webster are operating as a Veterans Services District under the management of the District Veterans Services Director, Stephen P. Rogerson", hours alternating "between both locations as needed", the officer available "at either the Dudley or Webster Office" and reachable at 617-599-6041 for immediate assistance or emergencies. The office’s own line is 508-949-8010 (fax 508-949-8033, an additional 508-949-3855) at Town Hall, 71 West Main Street, first floor, and its services list runs from "Emergency Benefit Case Management under Mass General Law Chapter 115" through federal claims, burials for indigent veterans and the "Property Tax Abatement for Disabled Veterans" - the office the EOVS directory’s September 7, 2026 Dudley row lists at "71 West Main St., Room 207" on the same 508-949-8010 ([email protected]), a floor above the page’s first-floor office. The page raises a Hometown Heroes Banner Program and a Veterans Memorial Brick form; no post of the town’s own is named. Chapter 115 benefits, the Commonwealth’s needs-based help with rent, food, fuel and medical costs, are applied for through Dudley Veterans Office: Stephen P. Rogerson, District Veterans Services Director (the Dudley-Webster Veterans Services District). Their amounts are set by the Commonwealth and are the same in every city and town; the statewide chapter 115 entry describes them.

Figures

Each figure is dated with the day it was read. A local figure moves whenever the statute or the local ordinance does, so confirm it with the office that grants it before you rely on it. Statute verified gives the day the weekly section check last found the statute standing on the legislature’s own code site; a figure without it rests on a statute the check does not read yet.
