Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

What it is. An Arkansas county veterans service officer is employed by the county judge and paid from the Quorum Court's budget, trained and accredited through the Department of Veterans Affairs, and partly reimbursed by the State under section 20-81-106: one dollar for every two the county spends, up to $3,600 a year, or $4,800 in a county with more than 2,500 veterans, plus $500 a quarter each for VA accreditation and for access to VA's benefits system; see the Arkansas entry on the Department and county service officers. Help with a claim is free. Who and when. The county's Veterans page: Veteran Services, phone (870) 460-6290, [email protected], 210 S Main St Ste 4, Monticello, AR 71655; it names no officer and no hours. The Department of Veterans Affairs' county finder (last updated August 19, 2026) lists Ray Hice at 210 S. Main St., Monticello, with the same phone and email, Monday and Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drew is in the Department's District 5, whose District Veterans Service Officer is Sue Harper in Monticello, (870) 623-6900, at the same courthouse address. The County Judge, Jessie L. Griffin, is at 210 South Main Street, 870-460-6200, [email protected]. The Quorum Court. The Court meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the District Court Building, 107 E. Jackson Ave. Its posted agendas name no veteran item, and the 2026 budget (Appropriation Ordinance 2025-20, on the December 8, 2025 agenda) is not posted, so the office's appropriation is not published. The veterans court. None: the Tenth Circuit's plan for 2026 names adult and juvenile drug courts but no veterans court, and the Judiciary's veterans treatment court map does not shade Drew.
