Where it applies

Written for the jurisdictions listed here.

The District Court in Dorchester County launched Maryland's first regional veterans treatment court in 2018 to serve Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties. The Judiciary describes it as a court-supervised, intensive treatment program for veterans who have committed crimes as a result of substance abuse or mental illness, in which they can resolve outstanding charges, get treatment, and be connected to VA and local resources. The Judiciary's September 2026 directory lists it as the Dorchester County District Regional Veterans Court, with the coordinator at the Dorchester County District Court, 310 Gay Street, Cambridge, (410) 901-1427. Entry comes through the criminal case, so a veteran or the veteran's lawyer should raise it with the court. It is not a tax break or a benefit a veteran applies for outside a criminal case.
