The published aid schedule. The Veterans Service Commission's guidelines set the 45.86 aid at up to $2,000 on a first request, up to $1,500 for additional requests within twelve months, with no per-year or lifetime cap - and a $200 no-application "special authority" that extends eligibility to veterans with under-honorable-conditions discharges and to legislative-change cases. Beside it runs the Dodge County Veterans Emergency Relief Fund and gift-card program with online forms added in 2025: $15,559.39 paid to 18 of 31 applicants in 2025 plus $2,500 in gift cards, from a non-lapsing fund budgeted at about $10,000 a year. The board funded a deputy VSO position by Resolution 25-42, adopted unanimously October 21, 2025, and reappointed commission chair Harvey Lewis on December 16, 2025 to December 1, 2028. DD-214 recording is streamlined: take the original to the Veterans Service Office first - "Processing will take about 5 to 10 minutes" - and the register of deeds copies, indexes and returns it, all free under section 45.05. The county's Patriot Project maps veteran graves across local cemeteries (466 locations added in 2025) with a virtual memorial wall for veterans without graves. No veterans treatment court serves Dodge County, and its code carries veteran references only in the records-retention schedule.
